THE BIGGEST LOSER
Hi fellas,
I have just purchased my 2000 model s2k 3 months ago and that the nimble little thing makes my old Accord feels like it was built by a different manufacturer
They co-exist happily in the garage tho, each is used to different purpose.
Enough babbling, rather than going straight into increasing the brute force of the car, I have decided to go down the WEIGHT SAVING route first. Would the kind gentlemen advise me on this topic?
(ps: I would like to keep the convertible nature of the car and the air cond)
Already, I've compiled a few things that I would like to do in the near future:
1. take out the spare tyre and get puncture filler + mini air compressor instead
2. carbon fibre hood
3. lighter wheels
4. take out the stock cd changer box inside the boot
5. change into lighter, single headed exhaust (?)
Has anyone done any research on how heavy the stock parts are and what are the SAFE, LIGHTER aftermarket?

1. You'll save about 20 lbs by just changing out the tire
2. If you get the real 1grand+ CF hoods you'll save 10lbs
3. Depends on the wheel, you could save 8lbs per wheel or you could gain weight
4. no idea...5lbs maybe?
5. You'll save around 30 lbs by going to a single
The biggest weight gain is just by loosing weight yourself, not so much the car.

Take out the convertable assembly. That alone is around 150lbs I think. You can remain topless or get a hardtop for bad weather.
I think you save like 80 lbs with the softtop motor but you have to but a hardtop on instead so there is 70 lbs back so in the end you only loose 10 lbs for 2500 dollars or whatever a hardtop costs.
"the guy in the exhaust heatwrap thread said he saved 63 lbs with a new exhaust, header, and test pipe"
ehh that is possible...but now figure how much he spent to loose that much.
Weight savings on this car are not very cost efficent and (IMO) not worth worrying about.
