THE BIGGEST LOSER
I'm the guy you need to talk to
I am 135 pounds lighter than stock, and still going strong.
The trunk is good for 42 pounds gutted. I'm talking tire, tools, and carpeting. I have yet to get the glue out though, going to get some dry ice this summer and get that stuff out for another pound or two saved. I switched to the single T1R exhaust. There are lighter titanium ones but the added 600 dollars is not worth the cost. Mine is only 26 pounds WITH the test pipe. You'll save another 50-60 pounds with this exhaust.
Now, after you gut your trunk and switch to the single, your car will ride about 1/2 inch - 3/4 inch HIGHER than stock. It will look like it's on stilts, so you should get some lighter coilovers. I'm looking into those myself now, need to find which ones are the lightest for the cheapest amount.
I recommend getting a drycell battery. You can get one for 60 bucks and save 20 pounds. I am relocating mine to the trunk, to help with the weight distribution so that the rear doesn't get too light. Also, empty the windsheild washer reservoir for another 10 pounds.
I only fill up with 10 dollars worth of gas at a time. Yes, I make frequent stops to the gas station but filling up only 1/3 tank at a time ensures another 50-70 pounds lighter at all times.
I have 17 inch SSR Comps, which are 4-5 pounds lighter per wheel, but they are expensive. If you're on a budget, look into www.rotawheels.com they are usually only 12-13 pounds per wheel and a set is only 600 dollars. Make sure you get the right staggered setup with tires though. This will take some research to get right.
Next up for me in the weight department will be header and seats. I'm just waiting for a damn dyno on the Megan header before I buy. I probably will be taking out the front and rear bumper beam supports for another 10-20 pounds. My goal is to be 200 pounds lighter than stock MINUS the saved gas weight. In essence, I'd be 250-260 pounds lighter.
If you ever have any questions on saving weight, feel free to PM me anytime. Good luck!

I bought my car with a VIS carbon hood installed. Later I got the original aluminum hood for the previous owner. When I swapped them I could swear that the carbon hood actually felt heavier than the stock aluminum hood. This is just a guess as I did not weight them.

Hahha, you have problems. How many milliseconds does this save you on your commute to work?

As my car is almost 200 pounds lighter than stock on an empty tank, I can assure you the difference in accelleration from a stop is very noticeable than with a stock weighted car.
