I see all of these S2000's on ebay for reserved
prices..(i email and ask for fun)... of $35k for used
versions, etc.....

I would imagine someone who paid $38-$40k plus taxes, etc... who now goes to sell it won't get more than about $29-$30k due to all the dealers having new ones for MSRP
or less.?

Just curious if anyone lost $10k for one year of ownership.

Of course, no one here sold theirs, so...............

My brother paid $2500 over sticker for his, so that's $34,900 he paid for it. If you add in what he paid to have it shipped, that's another $770, so not including tax, that's $35,670. He sold it for $30K, so that's a loss of $5670.

April 2000: Paid $33400 for a Silver/Red with floormats only..

April/May 2000: My S2K gets wheels&tires stolen and two $1000+ fender benders..

July 2000: Sold repaired S2K for $33000 . . . .

I lost $400 plus TT&L(paid tax only on $18000 and $500 on two insurance deductibles

Net loss not counting equity in car(2 payments made): ~$1600

I'd say the biggest loss in selling the s2000 is one everybody takes. They don't have the car anymore! :-)

Nice responses! I guess no one that really paid too much has sold theirs yet.

I think it kind of sucks that I can probably only get $28.5k and basically lose with tax (minus all mod $ wasted that I would remove anyway) about $7k.

O well... i thought they would hold their value a little better, but...... I don't think even with better weather that they will increase much.. too many of them around now.

In all reality what were you expecting?
I don't think too many people thought the gouging would last forever. Almost every car loses value in the short term. Ask me again in 10 years the same question and (hopefully) I would be able to say LOSE?, hell I could make 20 G's

I should start a S2000 broker service... i can go buy any color for sticker and they are parked on lots here in PA.

Then have it shipped to CA for $1500 or so, sell them for $38 (a damned bargain at that price).

Well.. actually have them presold and that person buys it locally here, so tax is only paid one time. I would pick up about $4k per car....

Speaking of selling S2000's. I'm trying to sell mine before my yellow one comes in April. Well, a woman from Kansas City has been emailing me about it. She's offering me an adequate amount for it, but I live in PA and she lives in Kansas. Any ideas as to what the best way of trying to make a deal is?
