Whats the story with this ?
I saw a photo of a white S2000 with a white window frame .. it looked alot better.
The owner indicated that it was just black tape that he was able to remove, but their where scratches under it so he had to get the frame painted.

I removed the tape from my car and I am happy I did. There were no scratches under the tape. In my opinion, if there were, that should be a warranty issue. If the car comes off the truck with paint scratches, it is not our fault. Dont know how hard it would be to get them fix it for free though. May have a better chance if you had the dealer remove the tape.

this has been discussed a lot.

would suggest searching the board for past discussions.

some samples:
yellow window frame tape removal,
unpainted window frame,
silver with tape removed,
questions about window tape.

i believe someone posted "in process" photos even.

Does anybody know WHY the black tape is there in the first place? Is it just there to protect the frame during shipping or something?

If its just a cosmetic thing, why would Honda use black tape rather than paint? If it was not meant to be removed, why would they paint the frame under the tape anyway?

Am I missing something here? I'm thinking photos of Stooks I've seen on this board without the tape def look better than with, but am hestitant to remove it, thinking Honda must have some reason for putting it there in the first place.

Any thoughts?

The S2000s designer wanted it to have a black window frame. Of course they still have to paint it to keep it from rusting.

I also removed my tape. It so looks much better without it. Had no problems removing the tape or scratches under it. I used Jason Saini method. http://www.s2000online.com/forums/showthre...p?threadid=6556

I have a silver and would like to remove the tape.

Anyone got a picture with the silver/tape off?
(a previous link to a silver doesn't work.)

Check out Unicron's sig, he has a silver with no tape. Beware though, because when I removed mine there were many deep scratches, and it had to be repainted at my cost. Good luck trying to get the dealership to cover it if you remove it yourself.
