You said you dont drive your car hard.....there is no way he over revved, becuase 3rd to 2nd, under mild driving isnt gonna do squat to your engine.....I do it all day long......2nd goes to like 52mph or something like that.....

Thanks for all the help and advice. I just had the oil changed last week at the dealer with Mobil 1 and take it there religiously for all service. I really dont think I hit second by mistake and the dealer knows how meticulous I have been with this car. It is well cared for and gets the maintenance done on schedule and I am a customer of 38 years. The car has 50K and is 4 years old. Extended warranty was $950. Hoping I get a favorable outcome from this as I question why I paid for an extended warranty.

Well, lets see what AHM has to say first but that could be an alternative. Thanks.

I'm sure you've already seen the Short Block Replacement Thread.

AHM took car of my claim with excellent results as they always have. You just have to truthful, show good records of your maintenance, and work with them.

Good luck.

Yes, thanks. I am being truthful and have had all my service performed at this dealership. The decision is up to AHM at this point. The dealership is going to tell them that I have been a good customer, take care of the car, and get all of my service done by them at the prescribed schedules. Not much else I can do except hope for a favorable decision. It's only a car, not a life threatning illness or loss of a loved one. I'll deal with whatever decision is made and again I really appreciate the advice and helpful links to info I am collecting.

S2KRAY, You seem to have a real healthy attitude about the situation. My heart would be broken.

Do you by chance have the shift beeper installed in your car? If so, it records the highest rpm that was reached and could be used as proof that you didn't overrev.

I have had some good luck so far for AHM. They replaced my clutch and fixed the 1st to 2nd grind under my extended warranty, even though my car was outside the factory warranty.

Good luck and just be honest with them. I think you will be pleasantly surprised with the service you receive. Without any mods on your car, you should be good to go.

Let us know what happens...
