The increase in used car prices is due to the economy. Basically, because people can't afford to buy new cars, they're going after used cars which makes the used cars more valuable. Classic supply vs demand.

NADA had my 05 NFR S2000 with OEM hardtop and 8k miles for $24,750! A dealer would probably charge 26-27k for my car

Correct.
I just sold my 1986 300Zx for $5200. I bought it in 1996 for $4300. The car isn't worth more - the money is worth less.
