boot on or off with top down?

Agree that the boot is a pain. The benefits of the boot on, are definitely understood. My S being a daily driver I just dont like the hassle. Bottom line, top down-no boot.

When the top is down I usually put the boot on. It takes a bit of time, but not
too much to forgo the protection from,
wind, dust, sun.
Also, when I put the top down (having
a MY2000) I use a rear window protector
(from Coastal Metals) to keep the plastic
rear window in shape.

If the top is down, the boot is almost always on. Park the car in the garage at home with the top down, park the car in the employee-only garage at work with the top down. Go for weeks in the summer without taking the boot off.
Downside: I have had to dash into gas stations a couple of times to remove the boot and put the top up before sudden showers. Once got caught in big traffic jam at stoplight on two-lane (one each way) highway and barely made it to a place I could get off the road to remove the boot and put the top up as it started to pour.
I guess I have the opposite attitude from most of you all. I continually wonder what kind of jackass put a power top on a two-seat roadster.

I fall into the category of putting it on if I know I'm going topless for a whole day or so. But for the quick commute, the top goes down and the cover stays in the truck.
