Default Brake noise on MY04

Hi, I have only 110 miles on my MY04 S2k and have start experiencing brake noise when I stop the car. Do you think it's more brake dust than... brake wearing out or something wrong?

Also... 2nd gear grind definitely starting to occur but it wears out when the trans. get warm. :-/

thats not good at all. i have a 03 and i only grinded once in 6k miles and that was 100% my fault(i didnt have the clutch in all the way). anyways, under what circumstances do you grind 2nd gear(for example when you only redline, shift quickly, etc, etc)?

The new brake pads have higher metallic contents and are slightly noisier in the cold, which is perfectly normal, so is getting more brake dusts from the new pads.

It is also normal for the tranny to feel notchy in the cold, and though it feels like the gears are grinding it shouldn't sound like a real nasty grind, and that should ease off as the tranny wears in as well.

Give the car some time to break-in fully and drive it for a year or so and see if the problems still occur.

I say don't worry about it for now and enjoy the car.

Be careful engaging 1st and 2nd gear when cold for the first 1000 miles or so. Sometimes it won't go into gear all the way. Nothing to worry about. Just pay attention. Lots of other 2004 owners have experienced the same thing. My car did it about 4 or 5 times when it was new. Now that it has 3300 miles on it, the transmission is very-very smooth all of the time. Have fun with your S.

Thanks for the great replies. It makes me feel better already.

Second gear grind when I shift "normally" (around 3-4.5k rpm) into from first. However, this problem does not happen when I shift from 3-2 or when the trans. is warmed up.

They changed the break pad compound for the 2004 S's. It could simple be the new compound. I've been running Track/Street pads for the last 15K miles and I get squeaking quite often.
