Default brake squealing in the morning

I have 02 with about 3k miles. for the last 2k miles, I have been hearing brake noise especially from the rear brakes in the morning. it occurs only when I step on the brakes for the first 20 mins of driving and disappears. it does not make any noise when coasting and brake seems to work fine. I have tried leaving the parking brake off for the night and just putting it in the first gear but it makes no difference. the noise is getting louder and it's driving me crazy. I will be taking it for the first oil change soon but wanted to hear what you guys thought so that I can go in prepared. TIA

I have a '00 that does the same thing. Only thing I can correlate to each occurence is cold and wet conditions. Anyone else?

Same here. As the weather warms up the problem goes away

My car goes through hot, cold, humid, dry and has not ever squealed in over two years. Yet, another Calgary owner has a slight squeak and his car is less than 1 year. Maybe it has to do with dirt or grit getting between the pads and rotor. Don't know for sure.

for me, it's really LOUD. sound like one of those garbage trucks with bad brakes. it does decrease when it's warmer.

its because its cold in the morning and the rotors are cold too. they need to be warm for efficient braking. it goes away after awhile, not really there in warmer climate

I am experiencing exactly this as well and want to hear what others have to say about the problem. Loud creaking noise only in wet and cold. Problem goes away in ~20 minutes, even after many hard stops. The creaking noise is not constant, but rather has the frequency of the wheel rotation, which has me thinking rotors. The pads were brand new in July, so it is not the wear plates.

Any thoughts, comments, solutions?
