Default Break in period blues

So i've read a lot about the break-in period, and I think I probably have not been too good about following it.

The car came to me with 250 miles (100 miles from the lot, 150 because it was driven in from another state - long story, but I agreed to it before they did it, plus I got a great deal). Then with about 330 miles on it, we headed out on our 1100 mile commute. Didn't take the revs above 5000 the whole drive. Mostly cruise control between 3-5K RPM.

I assume from the initial 100 miles, the car had been test driven a lot which Im sure means trips into the VTEC...

So my question is = at this point, do I just keep checking the oil at fill-ups and hope it doesnt burn oil??

You should be checking the oil on any car on a regular basis as long as you own the car. If it turns out that it burns oil, this is not a reason for immediate concern. Pre-'04 S2000s use oil as a normal state of being.

Hey Xviper, any idea what changes prevent the '04+ models from using so much oil? I have a '05 with about 1K on it and it hasn't used an ounce. I'm just curious what the engineers did to solve the oil consumption problem.

Thanks!
Doc
