breakin' in
So the S2000 I test drove had 55 miles on it , the sales guy came for the ride ...never got a chance to vtec that sucka !!Not like that had a bearing on me buying one ,the looks and the handling were enough !! My question is What can I expect once this thing gets a few more miles on it ? It's got 101 miles so far ,I have heard all this talk about no torque and really grippy tires , not that I will be drag racing but can I spin the tires maybe even chirp 2nd without blowing something up ??I have always had american muscle cars .....traded a 2000 SS crapmaro for a real sports car now!!!
Yes, you can spin the tires. If you wish to do it from a standing start, you need to do a high rpm (5000 - 6000 or more) clutch drop. Of course the clutch is kinda small for this purpose so it's not good for it and will eventually burn out with repeated dumps.
And yes, you can chirp second from almost any rpm above 5000 rpm but that depends on your technique and how fast you can shift. If you're a lousy shifter, you won't chirp the tires even if you had a trunk load of canaries.
