I definitely agree with you on not wanting a used one. I saw a 2001 model last month that was going for 31,000. That's $1500 under sticker!. Why not just shell out for a brand new one? It obviously appealed to someone, because it was gone within a week or two. Even more disconcerting, I saw what must have been a black 2000 S2000 in Dallas this past week that was beat to #%^@. The paint look scruffy and the insides were completely thrashed. I felt like that indian that was crying on the old 'don't pollute' commercials from the 1970s.
So new is the way to go. I just know if must be killing you guys to wait for these things. I couldn't sleep the night before I got mine just because I was worried about getting a good finance rate. I can't imagine having to wait for the car itself.....

You aren't kidding! I am dying waiting for mine to get here! As soon as it gets to the states, it will be about a week before I get it and it's not in the states yet!! I'm just waiting for them to call me and tell me it's in the country so at least then I know how much longer I have to wait!
Congratulations on your new S! How are you enjoying it? Is it hard to wait the 600 miles?

I'm absolutely loving it. Best car I've ever had (and I've owned a CRX Si and an MR2). I broke the 600 mile barrier after about the first 2-3 weeks. Living in Texas makes putting miles on a car much easier. Lots of long highways.
While the acceleration and power are mentioned most often, my FAVORITE aspect of the S2K is the balance and handling. I love taking off-ramps at speed so I can feel the car grip the road like none other. People with other sports cars like to say their cars 'ride like they are on rails' but after driving an S2k, I'm positive that they would admit they were mistaken. The S2k is in a class of its own.
The only downside so far is the notchy-ness in the shifting from 1-2 and 2-3 that is so often mentioned in this forum. I would like to see it corrected, but it looks like most of us are learning to live with it. It is annoying at best and I still look forward to getting off work, just so I can drive the thing home!!

For me the wait was about two and a half months. The reason for the long wait was the dealership I dealt with, nothing the matter with them - just small. I ordered in April got the next S2000 that came in (they did a swap for my color). The only problem was they only get a handful of S2000s a year. I could have traveled several hundred miles and probably even saved a little $, but they treated me well and all else being equal I would rather give my business to someone local.
