Default Buying guidance for OEM Hardtop

I was going to ask someone selling their S2000 with an OEM hardtop installed if they would be willing to part ways with just the top.

Besides the top itself, what other parts/hardware should I make sure are included with the sale? I have an '08.

Are there pieces the seller would need to keep because it's also used for the soft top?

I recently bought an OEM hardtop locally. Assuming all the hardware on the hardtop stays on, these are things you'll need included before you pay asking price:
1. Hardtop catchers plus 6 bolts. You will have to give the seller your 6 bolts. The difference is hardtop bolts are longer for the brackets.
2. The hardtop brushes (Left and Right). You will need to swap your soft top brushes. The difference is the hardtop brushes have a cutout for the hardtop.
3. Depending on if the seller also has an 06-09 AP2 like you, you will want the hardtop defroster sub-harness. Other model years (00-03 and 04-05) will have different harnesses.
4. (Optional) Soft top link spacer rubber x2 (86445-S2A-000). I don't have them because they don't make a difference.

I recommend you upgrading your current roof strikers to hardtop roof striker x2 (86270-S2A-902). Although when I replaced my strikers, the new ones look exactly the same as the ones I was replacing. Still best to replace them with new ones.

Appreciate all the detail - exceptional response!

They have been for the last 10 years. When they were $3500 in 2015, I thought it was nuts. I said there's no way people should pay that much money for them. You probably won't lose money if you buy one, it's just a $5500 bill attached to the top of your car.

I also found I needed the following:

4 x - 93404-06020-08 Bolt, Washer (6mm x 20mm) - catcher rear
4 x - 95701-08020-08 Bolt, Flange (8mm x20mm) - catcher front

Any good hardware store should have these. The original bolts were 16mm.

2 x - 74812-S3A-J10 Cushion, side gate

(These last two often fall off and were missing. They are basically rubber stoppers an inch in diameter and 9/16 tall.. They go on the rear brackets that rest on the convertible top frame. Supposedly, without them the top rattles.)

I track these hardtops on BAT (Bring a Trailer). Here are the last two.
