I'm glad you listened to the posters here. Some of them were a bit harsh, but they had your interests at heart. An S2000 is definitely not the car for you at 16/17, especially where you live (weather concerns). on your decision to get something else for the time being. There will still be some good S2000s around in a couple of years when you are more ready for one.

you definitly made a good choice. when i was 16 i had 6000 saved up and just had to have a 250hp sr20 swapped 240sx. i thought i was a pro driver and could easily handle it. my parents said do what you want, but they warned it was not a good idea, and i became the owner or a 95 240sx. that went great all summer, then we had a bad rainstorm in the fall, i realized that wet roads make for awesome drifting, i was drifting around a twisty road with my friend in the car, about the third turn i thought i had it figured out, then i went full boost in second gear into a tree and learned another lesson, liability does not cover damages to your own vehicle. moral of the story, fast cars and new drivers dont mix.

I'd say you should highly consider a WRX since you're up here on the east coast. My friends did great in the snow, it's fun when it's dry, and you can auto-x it, etc. just like you could the S. Plus, it's 4-doors and has a nice trunk.

Can be had for that $7k and the insurance isn't too bad either.

id say find a manual is300, you can find some as low as 6k. toyota reliability plus you have a supra motor, bullet proof. Plus a good looking luxury car that can haul all your friends.

And then after you make some money, drop a real twin turbo 2jz in that thing. easily 500 plus hp
