I got a very minty 2006 S2K at the dealer a few months ago, with 22K mi. Definitely hit me harder than 15 grand. Either that $15,000 car is not what it seems, that kid is a whiz, or I'm a sucker and got fleeced.
When your parents get the first bill for your insurance on the s2000 OR the Si, should you choose it, they will probably slap you in the face.
You can get a nice used Lexus for less overall-plus you can fit more girls in there and all girls love a nice lexus

you'll kill yourself.
Buy a Civic. They're good on gas and relatively cheap to maintain....drive that for a few years, get a job, then buy the s.
I know at 16 I was no-where near ready for this car, I totaled my first car in 2 months and it was a FWD 91 Cavalier (lol).
Just don't do it.

I just got my first S (I'm 21) and I'm already regretting the decision although I love the hell out of the car. The parts are ungodly expensive for a honda, the insurance is as much as my payment is, it's got some qwirks that my Jeep never had.
I would not suggest this car to anyone that is not pretty well off, just due to how much money it can eat up. Sure it's pretty, sure it's quick (not fast, I don't know why people on this forum insist these cars are "fast"), but it's nothing you couldn't find in a more conventional vehicle.
I'm not going to cry foul on the price or tell you that you're immature, etc. (You're 16. I have cousins that age and I know they don't type with perfect grammar on the internet. Big deal.) I'll just tell you that you should look at something else.
If you still want the S:
I do almost all the work on my car myself to save money. Oil changes don't cost much. You don't need to change the diff/trans fluid every 9,000 miles either... don't be ridiculous. I know someone is going to make a comment about "keeping it well maintained" but that is excessive. Synthetic oil is also in the eye of the beholder. I personally don't use the stuff. Gas isn't too bad with it only being $30 more or less to fill up on 91-93 octane here. 250-300 miles per tank.
All in all, just look at the mod prices which I know would have been a deal breaker for me at 16. $700 for an exhaust is crazy... it's a god damned tube with a muffler on it. Safe to say I'll be fabricating my own. But, everything else is pretty much up in that realm as well and I cannot make everything. Just something to keep in mind.
Good luck. If you wanted something good in snow that still looked pretty good, I'd say to consider a TJ Jeep Wrangler. Still has a soft-top, etc. and mine was plenty of fun. They just can get tedious when you have to drive on the highway to get anywhere.

1. An S2000 is a poor choice for your first car.
2. An S2000 is a poor choice as a daily driver especially if it's your only ride
3. An S2000 is a super poor choice in the northern winters.
Personally I'd go for the Civic Si in your shoes. Just so much more practical, easy to drive and room to pick up the ladies!

My points. (Because I'm too lazy to construct organized paragraphs)
1. Chances are highly likely you'll wreck your car, either by applying too much throttle on a corner, or by a miss-shift. My friend bought an S2K and miss-shifted his car after a month. The shifter in the S2K is not noob friendly. Destroyed his engine. Can you afford to drop another 7k on an engine/labor?
2. At 16, you should be haulin friends around. Some of your friends probably dont drive yet and if 4 of you want to go somewhere, your car can only carry 2/4.
3. Even if you think you're ready, you're just not. And anyone who says they were ready at 16 is a fool, or 16.
4. That "need" for this car at that age probably has underlying motives.
5. You can still have fun and impress ladies in a $7000 car.
6. If you are 16 now and have saved up $7000 dollars, then when did you start working, and how (while going through school) did you make that much money and not spend a dime? Sounds a lot like you didn't make all of it.
7. I'm ending this prematurely cuz I gotta pee really really bad.
7b. Thats what she said.

I've been working with my uncle since I was about 15 (as a diamond setter) and I've also worked at best buy for 5months Iam turning 17 in June so I didn't just turn 16. And I am going to take all of you advice and eaither buy a 2g gsx or a ek I do appriciate all the harsh remarks made me think. But I do know that I will end up regret not buying this car for that price. But thanks again everyone for all you input.
