Default Buying s2k 2003' Any TSB or known issues?

My concern is this. I want the car. I test drove it. but i like to do as much research as possible. Does the vehicle have severe mechanical problems?

For instance, the 1997-2000 Accords have premature transmission failure.

Does this car have and known problems that i will have to get repaired. How does honda handle these problems?

Will it last me? I take car of my cars, but this iss the most expensive car i will have ever bought. im selling my RSX type S.

any help is appreciated.

This is arguably the most reliable sports car on the market. I'm not aware of any TSBs on the '03s, and if you take care of it, it will take care of you. If you push it hard, expect clutch wear. Some people claim that the differential is the weakest link in the drivetrain but that's coming primarily from people that drive hard. If you already have an RSX type S, you're familiar with the reliablity of Honda.

Sure, some people have problems. But there are more threads talking about how much we love our car than threads bashing its quality. Take some time to read some of the old threads, and you'll get an idea of what problems have been encountered. There were several TSBs on the '00 and '01 models, and a few minor ones that affect the '02.

Chances are that it will be one of the best decisions you will make.

Yes, be careful when shifting.
Many of the engine "failures" were due to people missing a shift, going to 4th instead of 6th or going into 2nd instead of 4th, when you do this, the rev limiter will not protect the engine, as it is a mechanical linkage from transmission to engine, and if you are shifting at or near redline, (that's 9,000 rpm) yes, you will destroy this motor.
I have read threads of inexperienced (read: let a friend drive it) drivers doing this and causing such disasters.
Other than that, no real problems.
FWIW, on consumers reports, it is their most reliable sports car and it is "recommended"
Cheers,

I am going to trade in my RSX type S also. I am just trying to decide between the 350Z , S2000 , and the evo. It is a tough decision . Why did you decide to trade in the RSX-S.

Hi folks. I'm new at posting here, but I've been reading for over a year. To take this thread a bit further off-topic, I'm just about to the point where I have to have an S. I also have an RSX-S that I picked up last year. Traded my Acura CL-S for it because it was so much more fun to drive. I love the RSX, but the S2000 seems to be the next logical (big) step. I'm going Wednesday to see if I can cram my
6'3" carcass in the S. My RSX is just about perfect inside and out. I wonder how much of a beating I'll have to take. Any thoughts?
Thanks,
Frank

Yes, there have been quite a few threads on the subject. Here's one: https://www.s2ki.com/forums/showthread.php?...threadid=105373
You may want to do a search for "tall" to get more insight. And to get more comfortable, you may want to lower your seat. You'll find several threads on the subject with a search.

Thanks Slalom44. I've read that plus a few others. (Good search function here).
A lot of guys my size and bigger swear they're comfortable in the S. I really want to believe that I'd be part of that group. We'll see. One dealer in Yorktown NY (Curry Honda) is advertising 7 2000s in stock for $29,895. (2003s) Pretty good price from what I've read. Now if I could get somewhere around 18 for my RSX, I'd be real happy.
