Bye Bye S2k! Hellow STI?
So i found out that i am moving to Omaha, Nebraska in decemeber. unfortunately it looks like my s2k will not be able to join me in this trip. i am planning on selling it and getting a 2011 STI. i went there for winter 2 years ago and holy crap!! there was mountains of snow with blocks of ice on the side. there is no way my s2k would be able to do that for months even with snow tires since it is too low. i mean its already low here in texas so id be worse over there. but anyways yea im still debating if i should keep it and get another DD.

I suppose it depends on which car you really want for summertime and whether or not you can afford insurance/maintenance/storage of two cars. Drive an STi for a while and see if you'd be ok with it or if you'd miss the S2000.
Or go really crazy: get an STi and keep your S2000? Since you didn't list that as an option I assume it's not economically feasible for you though.

If the roads are plowed, you should still be able to get around fairly decent in the S with dedicated snow tires. The STI definitely has more ground clearance but it won't make you invincible. I got high centered real easy a couple years ago when we had the crazy snow storms here in MD and I was less than an inch lower than stock ride height. You would probably be better keeping the S and buying an old Jeep or something similar with 4-wheel drive and tons of ground clearance if you're that worried about it.

You could save $15000 by getting an 04-06 STI that is faster than the 2011. It doesn't look like shit and you can keep the S. As someone who recently sold his 04 for an s2000, I can tell you the newer model STIs are generally overrated and overpriced.

I voted to keep the s2k and get a awd dd, since that's what I did. If I were you I would look for an older impreza like mid to late 90's as a daily as they are cheap and not to hard to find. Best of both worlds, and you can keep the milage of the s2k and not have to spend a ton of money on a new car. Once winter comes around call your insurance company and tell them the s2k won't be driven and stored and you only pay like 25% or something like that.
Almost forgot I agree with DDragon22, the 04-06 sti were one of the better looking sti, the new ones imo are really ugly. Good Luck

Yea, From personal experience, keep the S. I sold mine when I moved to Kansas City the beginning of this year. I Traded it for a 2011 wrx, thinking I would be better off having one car I could drive year round. KC might not be as bad in the winter as Nebraska though. Anyways, I ended up hating it and bought another s2000 in June.
Yea, the STI is more fun to drive than a regular wrx, but still there is no comparison in terms of driving feel and engagement to a s2000. I'm going to buy a dd for the winter months, and put my car into storage.

Kind of depends on your situation for storing the S IMO. If you can garage it, keep it and get a DD for the winter. If it's going to be exposed to the elements regardless, get the STI.
