NOTHING screams like a long tube aluminum intake... check this out, sounds identical to my AEM v1 that I bought for $130 brand new, totally worth it. (injen intake in this vid)

I think the sounds of the CAI in great and i defiently noticed a difference with mine but i have no cat and an exhaust already. I think they sound great i wouldnt go with the lid off the air box method because you will get horrible heat soak.

Without the lid on the air box the air filer ends up getting heat soaked, and you will loose power. You kinda have to decide to you want great sound or better perfomance...

i'm picking up a FIPK tomorrow...i'm hoping it sounds louder and better than running with the airbox off which i've been doing for the past couple of months.

I like the FIPK better than the lid off of the stock box. Taking the lid off of the stock box makes it louder than most other intakes, but the intakes give you a better sound/tone/performance.
