Update: well, they changed my oil, and for the first 10 minutes of driving I could hear the noise... then some Vtec'ing on the freeway... and some more driving home...
and the noise is gone ... I think... will let you know more later. I only have 5360 miles as well.
the dealer said it could have been from some bad gasoline as well (??).

Why would you even consider telling them? What good could come out of it?

I've read stories that Mitsu was going through Autocross sites looking for the names of Mitsu drivers so when they'd go to the dealership, Mitsu could prove they were autocrossing.
*** If you bring your car to dealership for a problem, do not say anything outside of saying what the problem is. As far as you know, your car is driven gently. Less info is more... and you don't want to put your foot in your mouth...

With that said we had a customer who was having issues with all sorts of things in the driveline on his CR-V. The issues he was reporting were typical to someone who had taken the CR-V on a salty beach numerous times without cleaning off the bottom (happens a lot in our area). The CR-V is not meant to be an offroad vehicle, nor will any warranty cover it during offroading (same as many insurance companies) and this customer knew it. He told our service department he had never been on the beach with the car, but lives near the ocean - fine, then we can warranty his problems
While he's waiting for the CR-V in our waiting area he starts talking to other customers and sales staff about his adventures offroading the CR-V - he's talking about mud trips, beach trips, snow in the mountains - he's doing a fantastic job selling the CR-V for us - he even has photos!
About 30 minutes of this goes on when the service writer walks over and says "Mr.____, are you sure this car has never been offroad? We found sand inside your drive shaft". He immediately says "absolutely not" in front of all these people he's been bragging to. Word gets back to the service writer and he had to pay for the work out of his pocket. We did hook him up with a discount for helping us out on the sales and being a good customer, but there was no way we could warrantee a drive shaft filled with sand - Honda would go crazy.
Moral of the story: act ignorant and keep your mouth shut

The Mitsu dealerships in my area were sending representatives out to all track events (Auto-X, drag, etc.) and writing down license plate and VIN #'s of every EVO they saw that had gone through tech inspections.

They'll say you were driving it like a "Malaka" as it is your forum username. Hope they don't see this one...
