if so how? K&N air charger cleaner or can I use any 3" aftermarket intake filter.

No! I believe the stock filter element is made of paper. It cannot be cleaned. The "old" guys used to blow compressed air through them from the inside out but sooner or later, you blow it full of holes - not good.
The cleanable ones are made of cotten gauze.
