I think I'm just spoiled from driving an R33 GTR with 400+ for the last 2 years. I know I won't be dissapointed with the car and I'm used to "high performance" maintenance. I just know I'll get bored with it after time and want to upgrade. I just am afraid to hurt the car as I don't know how tough these engines are. That's why I'm asking you guys. They've got to be pretty tough to rev to 9k. With a supercharger would I need a metal head gasket and any internal mods? Is it basically a turbo spun by a pulley and managed by rpm instead of exhaust gasses? Forgive the naive question, but it's new to me.

I am in the UK and have purchased a 00 red/black from the US. I am an american and will be returning to the states next year (hence the skyline sale)

Thanks for all the input so far!

Here's what a 2.5L InlinePro stroker kit NA can buy you for $5495 (for the sleeved and assembled crate engine) and $3500 (for the stroker kit)... (Goto inlinepro.com for more details)

https://www.s2ki.com/forums/index.php?showt...dpost&p=4712707

~240whp @ ~7300rpms / 187 ft-lbs @ ~6200rpms and redline has apparently been lowered to ~8200rpms or so (see the link for the graph, I had to eyeball the rpms).

Pretty nice numbers, it makes more power than the supercharger down low, but trails off from the supercharger at around ~7300rpms.

Not even close to 300whp though.

I have to say yes...you can make 300hp out of this motor, maybe even 270-280whp NA...how...you need A LOT of money, and it would be much better to SC or turbo...but here it goes.

Up the Liters...2.2, 2.5? this will be the biggest power adder, and depending on what you want to do
higher compression forged pistons, maybe 12:1
forged con-rods
electric water pump
lightweight flywheel...comptech will work
lightweight valve train
Titanium Valve springs
Titanium Valves (oversized as much as possible even if its only .25mm)
Custom (maybe toda) cams just some more aggressive, hollowed
Ported and Polished head
Individual throtle bodies, with 550cc injectors
Higher flow fuel pump
Header, Toda, J's, Mugen, (or maybe even Ricks after it finally gets dynoed)
Cat eliminator pipe
2.75" Header back piping...maybe the new 70mm T1R
AEM EMS
Rev it as high as possible for it to still make power, and be safe for your upped displacement
Also possibly all the cooling mods and a bigger radiator, plus a vented hood that will let underhood temps be a little cooler

by the way, all the bottom end needs to be blueprinted and balanced...to insure it could spin at 11k+ rpms

but do all that, and ya, I could see the motor making 300hp easy...just a lot of money

I think he was asking about brake hp increasing from 240-->300.

If the stroker kit can get you from 200whp --> 240whp, that would be close to 290-ish bhp, right?

there is no question it can be done with the right amount of time and money. The real question should be whether it can be done reliably and driveable on a regular basis. The answer to that is probably not.

Oh bhp? ... Yeah, then the 2.5L stroker kit would probably do it. At ~$8995 its quite a bit pricier than buying the supercharger or turbo though. For the same money you could probably build a nice custom turbo kit and have some money left over to start strengthening the engine to deal with the extra power or get the supercharger, higher boost pulley and get some extra parts like the reinforced differential housing.

I remember quite a while back there was a member (don't remember his name...I think he got a lot of his stuff from R&D) who was running Toda SpecA (ver.1) cams, DC header, some sort of intake, and an AEM EMS who got about 230whp. That's about 280bhp (assuming 18% loss). That's probably about the max you can get while keeping it streetable (maybe eek a bit few more ponies with ver.2 cams and a better header). 300bhp tho, I think is definitely possible...a readily available setup would be Toda parts...run the 13:1CR pistons with their Spec C cams with a good header/exhaust setup and ITBs and I definitely think it'll break 300bhp (well above I think), but no way would that be streetable, unless you can afford to run 100+octane daily. It's doable, it'll just cost more and require more effort than what most ppl are willing to put in.
