i have the K&N and am very happy with it. I have seen the dyno results from K&N and one from someone on the board (you'll find it if you search for fipk). They both showed a 10 hp increase around 6k. Has anyone else done a back to back dyno and gotten less? someone mentioned that they had seen 5 hp.

i think the K&N has the best mix of sound, performance and price with no risk of hydro probs.

Anyone happen to know whether or not the K&N is CARB certified yet for all of us tree-huggers here in CA? Can't pass smog without it.

There is a very detailed write up here.

Near the bottom I linked to my page, where I added some pics and a short video. The audio isn't so good, but it's all I had at the time.

As for my experience with the FIPK, I really like it. Best attribute is definitely the sound. Deeper, louder (not too loud) above 6k. I think it makes the engine sound great. Fierce.

I've heard the Comptech and like that a lot as well. And it might look a little more finished in the engine bay since the airbox has a lid (the FIPK seals to the hood). It is however, much more expensive new.

Just in case noone mentioned it, the Comptech kit is a PITA to install. The instructions are almost worthless. completely indecipherable. don't know how much HP increase though, and it does look nice. I was helping a buddy with the install this past weekend, and it was certainly a study in frustration.
