We hear about these seats being stolen all the time, but do we ever hear of these thieves getting caught and prosecuted? I suppose the wheels of justice turns ever so slowly. Even if they get caught, I wonder what the consequences are.

While I was reading this thread I got a phone message from Florida (area code 305).

Another set of S2000 seats stolen!

I've got to call him back, but I guess he's not from S2KI.

Unfortunately, Florida leads the US in stolen S2000 seats.

Does anyone know how much the seats, owner's manual and steering wheel are worth pricewise?

I know my voodoo cost $45. I just want to get a rough estimate on everything pricewise.
To get the seats replaces with new ones is aroung $8000

Sorry for your lost and hope your insurance company treats you right. What year is your car? The may total it. Damage could be close to $10000 in their eyes

Sorry dude

Considering the price of these seats I would thing it would be a Grand Theft felony

Thanks for the support everyone. Joining this community is one of the reasons I got the car in the first place. I appreciate everyone's comments.

Tallys2k,
It's an '02. I got it used for about $20,000.

Are you guys sure they may total it? It doesn't seem to have any type of damage anywhere.

But then again, new seats, steering wheel, shift knob, and labor will add up. What if the steering column got damaged?

This is the first time something like this has ever happened to me. So I'm pretty much ignorant on how the insurance system works.

^^^^Your top did not get cut which is really good. It really depends on your insurance company but generally if the damage is more then half the value they start thinking total loss...have you contacted them already?

I'm sure you can make a concession to your insurance company stating that pre-owned seats will be acceptable. That way they won't be out $20000 ($22000 estimated payout - ~$2000 salvage). you win, they win.

damn you guys were right, i thought everyone was exagerating when they said it would be about $8000 for seat, but i just made up a quick estimate and it $8169.99 with the seats and steering wheel (without airbag). best of luck to you.

bobusha king,

Those bastards also stole the airbag, how much would it be with the airbag included. And for fun and giggles, figure in some steering column damage and add in labor.

If it does end up getting totaled then what?

sorry man, the computer don'y have the price for the airbag. I'm going off the prices in a bodyshop estimating program, so everything is new OEM prices. The car will not be a total as insurance companies total a car at 75-80% of the blue book value.
