Default This car is getting tough to keep up with

Hey ya'll... now before you give me the "SEARCH FUNCTION" Crap... trust me, I have. But with the search feature you get old threads, and theres nothing to say that new ideas havn't come with new members... so.......

I love my MY05 S2000. Silverstone/black, all factory aero and just at 21K. I wash this car more than myself some weeks and I love driving it and showing it off in its mint, waxed, glossy ass state.

So whats the problem? Well I am also a member of the "Top always down" club and with that, my interior is filthy after 3-4 days. Dust/dirt all over the dash/in the nooks and crannys, etc. Nothing a quick wipedown and vacum wont fix. Any tips?

But for the real stuff..

The seats. Yea its posted time and time again but I didn't find anything really useful other than maybe sticking my finger down my throat and dropping to a sickly weight, or just stop driving altogether.

Second, the convertible top. Not the outside, but the inner part. Its covered in dust/pollin/whatever. Should I just wipe it down with a wet rag?

Third, the infamous SCUFF MARKS. When I first looked at the car it had some nasty ones, but somehow the folks at the dealership deatiled the crap out of it and the next day they had disappeared almost completely. How'd they do it? I wear boots every day so its getting to be a pain in the ass.

Ok thats it. Thanks all!

You might get better responses in the wash and wax forum...

but for the leather seats, try using a leather conditioner and cleaner. Townshend or lexol products come to mind.

For the interior, I like to use 303 protectant. You can also use this for the top and virtually any other vinyl piece on the car.

A wet microfiber towel for the inside of the top is fine.

Katzkin's to reupholster the seat.

No matter how much you recondition the seats they will still look worn.

For a few bucks you can replace the scuff pads.

And wipe the inside with a wet rag. They also sell an aftermarket inner roof liner that you could take out and clean periodically.

Seats - clean and condition regularly..or get fabric seats.

Dirty interior - wipe with a swiffer cloth at stoplights

Dirty top - keep the boot cover on

whats that wire stretched all the way across your car?

radar detector?

if so, get it hardwired

as for your dirty car... its part of having one, silver is generally an easy to keep relatively clean color

if its really tough, then move somewhere where it's easier to keep clean

i can guarentee that where i live that it's worse

I use Bug and Tar remover to get the scuff marks off of the side of the car. I'm typically driving to and from work wearing dress shoes and it seems like no matter how hard I try it's inevitable that I'll get scuff marks getting in/out. The Bug and Tar remover works well for me.
