How fast were you going when you shifted back into 3rd?
Is it bad to shift back from 4th to 3rd if you going under 90MPH?

Bieg and Allan, give the guy a break. I doubt he came here and posted this looking for abuse, and that's exactly what you guys just gave him. We all make mistakes, and I don't think any of us go looking to have salt rubbed into wounds.

Miami, go to your dealer, tell them the symptoms but don't offer an explanation until they ask for it. And by all means DO NOT take it to Braman Honda... they tried to screw me over on a $120 repair (new thermostat and upper radiator hose) for nearly $400 until I caught them on every lie!

in the future to prevent this mistake, shift with your thumb down (palm facing away from you) when shifting into 5th or 6th.

Sondra said it, easy on the poor guy. He already has a messed up S2k to worry about which I'm sure he loves as much as any of us, without having to hear mean remarks from you guys too.

I can say it...I have had probs with car going from 4th to 5th and would have probably smoked a motor if I had been racing when I did it the first time. Only had it happen twice, but both times under the revs for blown engine.

I dont know why I have trouble with this. No probs with downshift, but I am also a bit hesitant when doing it due to the 4th to 3rd mishap.

As is always the case in this country, innocent until proven guilty. Dont admit anything not asked. Believe me, they live by the exact same philosophy. Do any of you people who disagree with this believe a dealer selling a new s2000 would tell you that they drove it off the truck new and reved it to 9000 on the way to get gas? Fat chance!

Good Luck. I hope you get her fixed. Then PRACTICE PRACTICE PRACTICE the shifting.

I can see how he could miss a shift. While this gearbox is pretty well defined, sometimes it is a bit too mechanical and gets stuck so you forcefully by habit thrust it too much with your hand... say going from 6th to third and you are so excited you use just a little too much (which is all it takes) and it goes into first. I did this once, but got very lucky and pushed in the clutch so no damage done. Hopefully.

I hope things work out. I can sympathize with your situation. for anyone else doing downshifts to 3rd, 4th at highway speeds.... just take a slight pause after you take it out of 6th or 5th gear and then push up or down. just think finesse.
