If your gonna get a new stronger clutch, just leave it there. you wont notice it at all.
Im sad to see all the idiot hacks still telling people to remove it.
They must all have honda engineers out matched..
I have installed 3 CDV slaves onto ap1's now to combat diff failures. 2 of these cars had diff failures once a year. they havent had any problems since, hmmm, think the thing works.... guess so.
Want anymore real info, backed up and tested. Pm me. I assure you, listening to the cdv removal crowd will do nothing but cost you money. later dave

Let me fill in some history here - back in 2004, someone noticed the AP2 had a delay valve, so he decided to take it out. That somehow became gospel for making the AP2 shift better, when in fact Honda added more than just a CDV, it added a flywheel that is more than 10 pounds heavier than the one in the AP1.
If you do some real research, you will see about as many people say the CDV removal worked as those that will admit it didn't work. What people are happy with is upgrading the flywheel to a lighter unit, the pp to a firmer unit, and then, maybe removing the CDV. The CDV protects the diff, the pp, clutch disc, and flywheel control clutch engagement.
The removal of the valve has worked for me...
I don't launch but I do shift hard on occasion and the valve made its presence know very early on.
A lighter flywheel is waiting in hand for the day the clutch gives up but for now, I'll do without the valve...

How about the mushy feelingless clutch in everyday normal driving? Do you get better feel out of it w/o the CDV?

Have you bled the clutch? You may have air in the lines.

I removed mine at 60k. I bought the car with 57k on it. I thought my clutch was slipping and needed replacing. I took out the CDV and it make a huge improvement. I was able now to chirp 2nd gear. Yes the flywheel is much heavier. Well at 80k my clutch was feeling weak again. It still had life in it but wasnt grabbing hard. I installed a stage 2 compitition clutch and 11 lb flywheel. Now this clutch grabs hard and i can chirp 3rd. I was like now this will break the diff!! It's still holding well with 90k on the clock and i autocross the car and i drive it like i stole it everyday of it's life. I do not how ever dump it hard of do burnouts. I do launch the car at autocrosses. When i launch it's smooth. I have a drag racing backround and when you wheel hop the car which is common on the s2k the vibration will break any diff. I broke a set of $2,000 stage 5 driveshaft.com axles in my Civic from wheel hop. I dont care if people dont listen to me. I'm just trying to help. I would bet 90%of ap2 owners with cdv removed are very happy with the results.

You have a new clutch and light flywheel, what you need to have for positive engagement - the CDV is ancillary to this, and since you replaced the clutch and flywheel after the CDV was removed, its hard for you to say that that the CDV in would change things that much. Besides, I'm not saying the CDV is necessary, its just not the main culprit, the flywheel and pp are. The CDV is easy to remove, so I suggest you upgrade the flywheel and pp first, and if its not perfect, pull the CDV.
Totally with what you are saying. It does help someone with a newer car that has alot of life left in the clutch to remove the cdv to get positive engagement. The stock flywheel is heavy and obviously a new set up is the best thing. Doing a cdv removal is free. I would like to know how an aftermarket set up works with the cdv in place. I would imagine you would have the same problem but i cant say for sure since i dont have experience with a set up like that
