Thanks for all the comments and well-wishes, I'll try to answer some of the questions.

Driving habits:

I do mostly highway driving. My regular commute is 240 miles one way, but it's only once a week. I've done one autocross, many mountain drives and Dragon runs, and a few track days. Anyone who has driven with me can confirm I push the car pretty hard but I never abuse it. Every shift is "lift-throttle" and I could never be described as "banging through the gears". I am a very] late braker on the track or during spirited driving. I frequently make U-turns with the ass-end a little ahead of itself.

My highway driving is usually quite tame. Put the cruise on (limit +8) and just go. I spend so much time on the highway I can't afford to drive fast all the time. Entrance ramps however, MUST be traversed with the engine in VTEC, and merging into Interstate traffic usually requires massive braking to match traffic speed.

I've hit VTEC 5048 times since July 2001, or 180 times a month. How do I know? See here

Maintenance:

Oil changes every 5k with M1. I did change the plugs to Bosch platinums when I installed nitrous, but other than that no plug changes. I changed air filters at 30k, diff & tranny at 30k too. I tried M1 tranny fluid and initially thought it might be to blame for my shifting problems (see first post) and went back to Honda MTF. Turned out it wans't the tranny at all, but I stuck with MTF at 60k and did the M1 in the diff again. At 90k I tried redline fluids for both diff & tranny, seems to be fine, I really can't tell the difference.

Now that I've bragged about reaching 100k with no major problems, I have to tell you it borke at Roebling Road on Friday. We took it easy for the first session, where I managed to redline 5th gear on the main straight (speedo says 140 but it's really only 136) while "just warming up". But on the second lap of the second session (still not going all out) teh engine started misfiring.

I brought it in to the pits and checked for a DTC, but there were none, other than my "normal" secondary O2 sensor signal (oops, I forgot to include that in my history). I pulled the plugs and found #1 had a broken insulator (a pea-sized piece of ceramic). After changing the plugs it still misfired so I had it towed to the local dealer. On Saturday they were able to confirm there was no cpmpression in #1 (bent valve?) but won't know for sure till they pull the head on Monday.

So the bad news it that it's broken, but it can't really be attributed to a Honda design flaw. I don't imagine Bosche will fix my engine, will they?

I was told nitrous and platinum plugs dont mix.
Maybe that started a problem with the plugs?

Sorry about the bad news.

Congrats!!!

Its great to hear that you and the car are doing well. That's a lot of miles w/ the super charger and no real problems!

I will put one on when my warranty runs out. Keeping this baby 4-ever!

I've got 32K on mine after 16 months so it's good to hear that others have easily passed the 100K milestone. I seem to be having an issue with my 6th gear sticking now. Other gears are fine. Wonder if it could be the same issue that you had? It's going in the shop tomorrow and I'm not taking "no problem found" as an answer!

Congratulations man! I'll have had mine for 3 years in another week or so, just hit 72k miles today...

Clutch replaced under TSB @35k miles - not because there was anything wrong, just wanted the newer components. The top has a wear hole forming on the driver's side, and the weak elastic problem when closing. Lots of rock chips in the paint and windshield. Mechanically the car is and has always been perfect. Done dozens of autocross and probably 100+ clutch-dump starts. Recently did its 14 & 15th track days at Pahrump - the transmission still shifts like new, brakes work perfectly, motor pulls strong, handling sublime. The car has returned as high as 35mpg on extended trips, done an indicated 161mph on a local freeway, and turned 1:43s at Laguna. A/C blows cold, windows always go down, etc.

For street tires, I've been through 2 full sets of S02s (got about 18k on each set) and 1 set of Kumho 712s (20k). The rest of those miles were on R-comps: 1 set Yokohama A032R (4k + 3 track days), 1 set Michelin Pilot Sport Cups (4k + 3 tracks days + autox), 2-3 sets Hoosier autocrossers (no street duty), and about 4 sets of Kumho Victoracers. I've owned 6 sets of S2000 wheels at one time or another, including 3 different sets of the elusive JDMs.

Still using the original brake pads for the street. Use track pads for the track - 2 sets Porterfield R4S, 2 sets Porterfield R4, 1 set PFC 97.

Car could use a new windshield, and maybe some blingy 17's for the street. The PFC pads kick off some seriously nasty dust that has messed up my current rims. The stereo is a mere shade of what it once was but upgraded speakers and satellite radio keep me satisfied for now. Only other mod I have is a larger front swaybar.
