Celebrating 100k miles
I'm racking up those miles as well. My MY00 has 58,900 miles. only about 40,000 to go. They will be gone in no time. I just want my car to be paid off before I get there since my warranty is good up to 100,000 miles. I have three more years to pay so it will be a close race.
Dear god, I actually agree with Xviper on something.
And yes its is VERY good to hear that an engine that had 67k miles before goind SC is running good at 100k+, and that the clutch is still intact. Maybe I should pick up the SC in the spring instead of waiting until 2005 like I originally planned. I guess I'll see this spring.
And yes Xviper, I will admit when I'm wrong, IF (see the if) I'm proved wrong. I still say 12000 km isn't a good reliability test.
Blah, I think I need to see my doctor... Agreeing with Xviper... somethings gotta be wrong.
Its good to see the list is fairly basic repair stuff too. I did read soemwhere that the s2000 has a very low maintenance cost from 0 - 100k miles. It cost about half of what my damn 2002 Eclipse GT cost to maintain over the same period. Thats just basic manufacturer recommended stuff. My Eclipse in the first 30k miles fried a spark plug (big deal
), struts went, sun roof jammed and wouldn't open (3 times), had a syncro problem, clutch was slipping because some rod wasn't adjusted correctly, hazard switch stopped working because it wasn't connected right and the wire fell off, MAS went bad, left headlight was foggy from moisture getting inside... It was all covered under warranty except the struts (went to aftermarket instead). But thats damned irratating on a car I had less than 2 years. No more Mitsusquishies for me.

Wow, and I thought I drove alot. I got my MY'02 at the very end of February this year and already have 14k miles on it. That feels like a lot of miles in a short time - but your sprint to 100k beats that!
I am glad to hear the positive experience all the way up to 100k, as I definitely plan to have this baby for at least that long. Long live Honda motors!

to the original poster:
how do you treat your engine? do you avoid numerous cold starts, wait for some time before you vtec,etc,etc...tell us your driving habits. tell us anything that can be relevant to how your engine lasted that long.
im just curious.

Great stuff!
I bought my '00 car with 54.000 km on it and now have 86.000. Everyone in Germany is wary about cars with over 100.000 km on them, but I believe this one will run just fine with "high" mileage. I had a '92 Integra back in the states that had 245k miles on it when I sold it!
What's even more impressive is that your car has seen Nitrous and supercharger duty as well!
Do you religiously follow the "severe" maintenance schedule or anything else in particular?
