Default Center Console problem

I am having a problem with my center console, the perforated pad portion near the glovebox is lifting up and when I put the clips back in place, it will only stay down for about five minutes before lifting up again. I have taken it to the dealer, who pushed down on the pad and told me that was all that could be done. Is anybody else having trouble with the center console staying in place? Does anybody have suggestions to keep the clips from lifting up?

Thanks

Did you recently get your parking brake adjusted?

Still not sure what to do about it myself.

Place a couple of spacers under the glovebox tabs where the clips are. Ensure you don't overtighten the two screws on the glovebox tabs. This is a common problem after fitting a console cover and easily rectified. AusS2000 put me onto the solution.

Destiny: Exact same problem as you described, but mine just happened by itself. The console has never been removed since I bought the car in February. I just noticed it recently and suspect it may have something to do with the summer heats effect on the plastic parts. In the thread that you linked, I noticed some suggestions regarding the small metal clips, but the clips or tabs that I am having trouble with do not have metal clips according to the Helm manual, they have a 45 degree plastic tip that will go in the slot, but not pull back out.

I am considering some type of glue to keep them in place or trying to bend the tab slightly so it will catch on the side of the slot again.

Muz: I am sorry but I am confused by your post. I have a MY 2002 with the stock vinyl/leather? console cover. I am talking about the plastic console with the top switch, shift boot, etc. If you have any pictures, that would be very helpful.

Have same problem..took it to the local Honda dealer and they have ordered a washer that obviously seems to be missing on some 2002 models....should be here next week and it is covered by the warranty.. when I get specific info on part # etc, I will post.
