Default Center console question.

The silver part of my center console is chipped and I can see the black underneath. Can that piece be removed or is it part of the entire center console?

Are you talking about the silver trim peice around the shift boot? If so, yes that part can be taken out. Requires drilling or cutting of two black clips or so (if I remember correctly) and it just pops out after you unclip all the clips around the bottom.

Cool thanks guys. So I should follow the shift boot installation guide from Rick's to do it right?

theres an easier thing to do, take one of those alcohol wipes, and take all the paint off of it, looks much cleaner, IMO

Yeah but once you remove that finish the chrome like underneath with chip and wear also. At least mine does. Looks bad now with lots of little chips and scrapes on it. Need to take it out and paint it or cover it with something I think.
