Certified s2000 - worth it?
Yes and no on how extensive
The CPO warranty is "almost" b to b for the first year and drivetrain for 3.
Honda Care will cover most major components after the first year.

The dealer will try to charge $$$ for the Honda Care.
Just try to get them to throw it in as part of the deal.
I just picked up a certified CR a few weeks ago. I didn't want to deal with having to worry whats going to break next and have to fork out money out of my pocket to get it fixed. Even though I know how to turn my own wrench, I'm glad all I have to deal with for awhile is fluid changes. I bought the car and it had some bad hardtop latches that were loose and a deformed windshield gasket. Took it in to my local Honda dealership and got it fixed for free. Great piece of mind for me.
similar story with me, i traded an 09 GTI in after buying it brand new and owning it for 6700 miles.
when i picked up my S there were 2 comparable ones at the dealer, one was not certified, had some over spray on the front bumper where the PO spray pained the lip, and needed a good detail.
the other one was certified, and really clean, but cost a little more
both drove well and seemed mechanically sound.
i went with the cheaper one, detailed it, got a new lip, and changed all of the fluids. its been trouble free and im glad i didnt buy the more expensive one. i took my S to another honda dealer where they did a free multi point inspection, they said they dont understand why the dealer i bought it from didnt certify it and mark the price up, the car was in great condition.

@dirty, GTI mk6 is awesome, dont get me wrong. I'm def gonna miss the cabin tech. I got heated seats, sirius, BT, sunroof, 18 detroits all for 22.5k OTD. but its not doing it for me. I feel like I can cut my losses and get something I really enjoy now vs later. its the S...
I had a poor experience with my previous s2000, I feel that its not worth the headache and stress.
yay i hit my 55 post mark

@S2k-DJ - I would love to keep the GTI, but its definitely not feasible right now. I'll have the gti paid off in 2 years and I figured after that maybe, but 09s are the last of s2000 and they are gonna just rack up miles. So I might as well dump the GTI now and have some fun for a few years with the s2000.

I got mine certified used at Honda Stealership. maybe $2-3k more than avg price.
reaoson:
1. Don't know anythin bout s2000s (crashed my car 2 days before i bought the S) needed car asap lol.
Now i think i got ripped off, but i drive evryday not worrying about my tranny or my engine failing on me.
BUT.... I still think its not worth it now. Peace of mind VS price?? good luck.

I work for a Honda Dealer.
CPO is great when purchased from a HONDA DEALER. Its meaningless if purchased from a non-honda dealer. In fact, its pretty rare to see a Certifed S2000 at a honda dealer around here. Most of the time the honda dealers send to them a sister non-honda dealership just so they dont have to have it certifed and put a warrenty on it.
So you should expect that s2000 to be in good shape.
