Certified s2000 - worth it?
Like I wrote before, if you can get the extra warranty and CPO for cheap, it would be worth it. The fact that the dealership put CPO on there means they were supposed to do the necessary tests and fluid flushes based on Honda's guidance. If anything is wrong with the car, they are the ones to blame. However, if the previous owner really beat the car up, even a CPO might not find a bent valve or other issue that hasn't manifested itself yet. I would use the Compression and Leak Down tests as bargaining chips - tell them you want that done so that you can be certain you won't have any powertrain issues (we all know that the car loves to be pushed, but all it takes is one misshift and it's over). If you have a powertrain issue due to something like a misshift, it is not covered under warranty and you will be out an engine.
CPO is only worth the extra if you can get it cheap and don't want to have to do new owner maintenance from the start. A compression and/or leak down test is still a good idea no matter what.

I bought mine (2007 w/ 38k) last summer from a private seller, with 3 years or 100k remaining on the transferrable Honda powertrain warrenty.
Best of both worlds I guess. No extra markup, and free repairs if anything expensive braeaks.
