Ok, so if Honda does something cool like throw a type R in the mix for '03, will that lower the prices for older models, raise it, or do nothing?

what the heck do you think? of course that will lower the value dont forget we are hitting over 2 years on the current model of the s2000, there will be some lease returns coming back soon, so there should be a lot of used s2000 sitting around the car lots.

older models lose value as they get older simple fact. Unless the car is a collectors item (which this is not contrary to some members beliefs). If you are asking if an older model will depreciate faster because a type R model becomes available. The answer is probably not. Do Civic EXs lose value more because their is an SI? Do GSRs lose more value because an ITR exist? No. They are different people looking for different things. Some folks are happy with the EX some have to have the SI. Same with the Integras and RSXs. It's just a manufacturer offering more choices.
