Mileage? From your description it sounds like the internal 6000(?) service warning. I had that happen prior to my first oil change.

Yeah, the instructions to reset it are in the owners manual. If it hits 7500 miles and stays on solid, you will not be able to Vtec until you reset it

is it the 'service engine soon' light or the 'check engine' light? if itis the former, then check your manual on how to reset it.

If it's the Check Engine Light, something is wrong and it won't go off till it's reset. Sounds like it's the Maintenance Required Light.

You sure about this one Jeff? I seem to remember running for a short time with the MIL light on without incidence and could still VTEC. I reset it at the next stop I made. Maybe my mind is losing it and it was just blinking right after turn on, not quite to the 'stay on' mode.

Yeah, don't know if you remember Bill from Providence. His went on last summer and he lost Vtec. No one could figure out why, then we just reset his light because he was going to anyway. Next thing you know, he was Vtecing again.

The MIL will flash on certain occasions. (MIL=check engine light) If the engine is misfiring bad enough to damage the catalytic converter the MIL will flash. The MIL will also flash if the key is turned to on and the car is not started after approx 30 sec or so. If my memory serves me, This is an OBD2 readiness self check. The MIL will also flash when a PGM-FI tester is plugged into the ALDL connector and establishes communication with the PCM.
