chirping 2nd????????
After installing k&n air filter and insulating airbox and intake with thermatec, I now chirp going into 2nd. Had a harder time doing it with stock air filter. Shifting very very close to redline helps too hehe.
Wouldn't you lose time chirping your tires? I know it feels great to chirp it but I've only chirped it once with 4400miles. Maybe it's my shifting. But on my cousins Integra, I could chirp 1 to 2 to 3 with a smelly clutch afterwards.
If you leave your foot on the gas nailed to the floor it would be impossible to not chirp unless you shift like a grandma or miss the shift all together. When your in 1st, have your hand on the shift knob slightly pulling it towards 2nd without pulling it out. Hold the shifter to the point where if you pull anymore it will come out of gear. As soon as u hit the clutch, bamn slam it to second, your gonna be half way there already. Also, do not take your foot of the gas too high, then it takes too long to get ur foot back on the pedal. Chirping is for fun, not for traction. It will slow you down slightly. You also do not have to shift at 9K to chirp. You can chirp earlier in VTEC as long as u stay on the gas and shift fast. It is easy as hell once you get the hang of it. Practice will put wear on your clutch, tires and rear differential. Happy chirping
Skogshuggarn, 255 is too pretty wide to be chirped.
Anyways I think most of us can't chirp it because of the grip of the s02's and because of the 16" stock rims. Even if I can chirp a teg with doesn't mean I can chirp the S because we don't have that much more torque than them. And the teg I chirped had 195's vs. 225's on ours. I think it mainly depends on how much thread is left on your tires. If you have 10K miles on your s02's I don't think it'll be that hard to chirp those.
JonBoy, I absolutely agree with all the things you said. I was thinking the same thing before too.

if you are chirping third you are running on concrete or some crap.
I can chirp second easily. It is easiest to do it with a power shift, but it can be done with a standard shift if you do it fast.
You need to go all the way to redline and pretty much just drop the clutch as you engage 1-2. As far as chirping the 2-3 shift...I will believe it when i see a video. and that video better show the tire wear and street composition!!
