If you're gonna use your S like a sportbike, only on adventurous drives in good weather, when its warm out, and aren't concerned about things like noise or tire wear, and drive maybe 6k miles a year or less, then yes, extreme performance summer tires would be a better choice.
But if any of the above is not the case, MPSS are a great tire for the S. The only possible drawback is the sidewalls are not as stiff as the original tires, and this gives up a degree of responsiveness that some find enough of a drawback to make extreme performance tires worth it.
It all comes down to what compromises you are willing to accept.

I drive mine less than 2000 mi a year, and I still went with the PSS.

PSS all the way. Love them on the S2k. Feels great even with SC @ 13psi and very aggressive driving. Inspires great confidence as I jump into turns at higher speeds and attack the curves. Continental DWs are almost as good.
