ChrisD - his car ROCKS
Dave,
Sorry but I will be turning my (now stock) car over to the BMW dealer (in Daytona) this Saturday. You'll have to talk to Chris Danek (ChrisD) or Chris (cjb80) and talk one (or both) of them into showing up.

I thought they were getting ignition retard some how by feeding in false IAT signal during boost so the ECM thinks the charge is hotter than it is thus dialing back timing

As a neutral third-party, ex-S2000 owning BMW M Coupe owner, I would like to add to this discussion that I have seen firsthand SpeedCraft's work. 2 words.
Absolutely amazing.
And, I've seen the dyno charts, talked to Dwight and saw some of the other cars that he has done work on. Man, that place is amazing. Actually, it's kind of misleading... it's a small shop, but everything is first rate. And, to make it better, those guys are really, really nice and more than happy to talk to you.
One thing that I couldn't get over was the ease and fluidity in which Dwight did the work. All the welds, bends, brackets- EVERYTHING was first rate. In fact, being a somewhat conservative sceptic, I couldn't imagine how someone in a small shop in Jacksonville, FL (actually Orange Park) could manufacture, by himself- down to the exhaust manifold, such an (in my eyes) perfectly working setup. Now given, the system is run on high octane fuel, no cats and big-ass 3 inch exhaust, but from the friendly dissertation on this board, it seems that he has accomplished something no one else has been able to do. And to add insult to this injury, when derryck sold this system to Chris (whom I haven't met), derrycks car was returned to can't-even-tell-that-there-was-an-assload-more-horsepower-under-the-hood stock appearance than upon first crank, the ignition fired up and ran perfectly with no check engine lights or anything.
Given, turbo systems are like poopholes... they stink- wait sorry, wrong correlation. They are like opinons- every one has one, and everyone thinks that they can design a better one. But from what I've seen (and read) this one is the real deal. No four-pages of "who is interested in a turbo" or anything like that. Speedcraft's turbo system is here, is clean, and works.
How long did derryck run his car with no problems with anything? Ask him. That should be proof enough.
It's just a damn shame that all this technology was wasted on a Honda. But then again Derryck is thinking about turbochargin' an E46 BMW M3...
Smoochies, smoochies...
the L-diggity
P.S. Derryck, I'll be back in Jax next week... Dave and Busters next week maybe?

Elion,
D&B sounds like a plan.
VaporTrail,
My intent is not to be defensive but I'm tired of defending myself and Speedcraft's work. I'm good friends with Dwight and I guess I'm defending him more than anything else. Discussions are always welcome... I enjoy hearing the view points of others. I suppose I take things a little more personally than I should when someone that knows very little from a mechanical standpoint takes cracks at Dwight's work.Understand, however, that since I started posting about the turbo set up, I have (at times) been overwhelmed with questions and at times criticism.
Ju17,
We chose not to retard timing due to the hp loss it incurs on the S2. The 'production' version of the head gasket should be here anytime which will solve the problem and will be included in the 'kit'.

Vaportrail,
I wasn't referring to anyone in particular with that comment, especially not you. I am by no ones stretch of imagination, a mechanic but I know enough to stay out of discussions that I know nothing about. It just seems that some people like to chime in and offere advice whether or not they have a clue.
