Default Clear Bra......

Has anybody put a "clear bra" on their vehicle? I saw my friend's racing Porsche and he had that on. Looks like it would help with rockchips and stuff. I found armourfend, they have it for our car. I was wondering if anybody on the board deals with that stuff?

I deal with it, check out www.mishield.com, that's what I do. if a bunch of people want to get it, I'll hook it up with a good price, and I have it on my S2

I just installed mine yesterday.

I purchased this one from www.invinca-shield.com and have found them to have very reasonable prices. I installed the same shield on my SVT Focus a few months ago and bought it from www.expel.com. Both sell the same 3M material but invinca-shield is almost half the price.

As for installation, the hood and front "side caps" are a breeze. Took me all of 3 minutes each. The upper bumper/ grill area took me about an hour and I came away with a few small creases.

Any flat or minimally-edged surface is pretty easy. Curved surfaces are just a pain. Let me know if you need any further installation instructions. The instructions that accompany the material are lengthy.

Good luck.

Kris

I have 3M Scotchcal on my car. I had it installed before I picked the car up from the dealership. I personally think it's the best thing I've done to protect the finish of my car. I know there are people here who have had problems with their headlights supposedly cracking because of having the clear bra on their lights. But I've had 0 problems.

It's a good product, but be warned that the plastic film is not impervious to getting "cut" into from anything with hard edges (e.g. a little rock).

So if it gets cut, as long as it doesn't chip the paint, don't expect your installer to replace the "invisishield."

Just to set the table of expectations here...

with that said, i'm glad i got stongard.

I've had the Xpel for over 2 years. It's saved me from quite a few good rocks hits. Just shop around for prices. They can range from as low as under $400.00 US to near $1300.00. And in this type of product, you DON'T necessarily get what you pay for.

I am looking for a good quality product at a competitive price. Anyone? I have been quoted 850 and up for different items. They say it is labor intensive and most shops charge 70 an hour (My mechanic is cheaper) and say it take 6 - 7 hours to install base kit. At these prices I can just repaint the hood and bumper. I really want to get this product but think a fair price for hood, fenders, bumper and mirrors shouldn't be more that 500. Anyone know of any place for around that much?

Any "pro" who takes 6-7 hours to put on the full coverage kit is COMPLETELY INCOMPETENT! I installed it myself in my own garage and it took me less than 3 hours and I think I did a fairly decent job. A pro should be able to do it in less than 2 hours.
For example, there is a shop here that will do this kit from a "NON"-computer cut product (ie. custom cut by hand) for $600.00 Canadian. You do the math. And these guys do it "perfect".

I can do your full kit in 45 Minutes, Hood, Fenders, Mirrors and bumpers. If you want the headlight protection, that takes about 5 minutes to put on. No creases (wrinkles) or bubbles. You want pricing, call my cell at 858-583-1557 or call the shop 858-408-0744... Ask for Phil.

I wouldn't hesitate to hire you fillmatic but the airfare from CA to NJ would kill me. Anybody local?
