Default Cleared Corners With Amber LED Running Lights

I decided to clear my lights since I had the front bumper off the car to install my new AEM CAI. Many thanks to S2K0 and his tips thread on 12-18-01. If you are thinking about doing it read his helpful hints and photos too. I ended up using the oven method to open up the light housings but found a preheated oven temperature of about 230 degrees for 8 minutes worked the best. Also it is imperative that you use a 1 - 2 inch scraper to help pry the lights apart. I also was especially careful resealing the housings with two seperate coats of black hi-temp silicon which I let cure for 24 hours between coats.
As for the replacement lights for the cleared corner, rather than going with hyper white or blue, I found amber non fading signal lights from autobulbdepot.com which I painted chrome silver leaving a1/2 inch slot on the bottom part of the bulb unpainted by covering it with tape. They work great and look cool. For the running lights I used a replacement amber led which I suprisingly found at Autozone. I have included a photo of the led and packaging. These are excellent and are the best solution to make the clear corners work properly without looking to ricey!!!

My experience with LED bulbs is that they do not spread the light beam pattern like standard bulbs do.

You know i really want to clear my corners, but guess i'm afraid to screw somthing up. But that looks awsome, you did a good job. Is possible for you to get a pick with the HID lights on? Just to see how it looks.

The led is on in the one photo. They are clear when they are off. They are much brighter at night. By the way, I think just about anybody can cleat their lights, its not that hard. I had the front bumper off and the lights out in about 1 hour!!!

Good job, nevertheless ... I'm impressed by the quality and output. As for LEDs, I think I'll stick with the conventional Raybirg bulbs for now.

I think I could do the whole procedure in under four hours now that I have done it but the first time took about 6 hours total time. Although it is a good idea to let the silicon cure for 24 hours around the housing before reinstalling the cleared lights just to be safe.
