Clearing CEL

Default Clearing CEL

Hey sorry folks, tryed the search and it was comming up as a blank page.

So I have done it before I just forgot what spare fuse I need to pull to clear the light. Can someone give me a quick refresher?

3rd one down usually. but make sure you fix the problem or cell will come back.

Do you know what the code is? Clearing the CEL when you don't know what's going on is not very wise. If you know what's going on and have taken steps to resolve the problem, it's the "BACK UP" fuse you pull for 1/2 a minute. Look at the legend on your kickpanel to see which fuse that is.

I was working on the car and unplugged the ecu and turned the car over. Sorta forgot to plug everything back in all the way. Now I have the light that is bright as hell at night.

Remember to do the "idle learn procedure" after you clear the ECU (according to the shop manual)

Just let it sit idling for about 10 minutes after the radiator fan kicks in.

I've reset the ECU many times. This is not necessary unless you had idle issues to begin with. Resetting ECU and clearing codes just re-instates some of the default parameters. It'll figure things out for itself by just driving the car and doing your usual stuff.
