How does this mod compare wtih AP1 clutches? the AP2 clutch feels too spongy.
The mod makes an AP2 clutch engage the same as an AP1. Very nice mod...definitely worth the effort. If I had an AP2, it would be my 1st mod.

What are some negatives to removing this ring?

I'm not too sure how the CDV is supposed to be advantageous. From what I've read, it just tries to save you from ruining your clutch.

When is the next tech day?
I may want to take mine off, as long as it won't cause me any problems down the road.

I have an 05 ,
I looked in the manual & don't see it mentioned,
is it at the clutch slave cylinder?
You mentioned a rubber O ring & screen is that in the fill cup?
I do know what it is & where it is on a BMW but not on this car.
I bought my S2k 3 months ago & love it.
I now know what the thrill of owning one is.

It is in the slave cyl. Go to the Under the Hood forum and check the DIY sticky. Gives instructions.

I got on it a little last night and from 1st to 2nd to 3rd, the rpm's stayed at around 7k when I upshifted, then they proceded to go up. Is that the doing of the delay valve? Or is it my crappy driving skills, keep in mind this is my first manual car. I have a 2007.

you should not be landing at 7k from a 1 2 shift. if you shift right whether its a normal or speed-shift the rpms should land you in the low to mid 6k not 7k. you're riding the clutch.
