Coastal Metals Grill - Will a CAI improve performance?
I received my Coastal Metals front frill several weeks ago, and it looks great! However, I am disappointed in the diminished performance of the car.
Will buying a CAI, such as Injen or AEM improve the performance or should I get rid of the grill? Thanks for the input!

Deminished performance???
Possibly in the dead of summer when the heat is 100 or so, but what performance losses are you encountering in december?
Was something else changed at the same time?
The gains from keeping the radiator clean and undamaged are worthwhile in my opinion...

I didn't notice any performance loss with the grill, I did notice the car had a tendancy to bog more while in stop and go traffic. I put on an AEM cai and kept the grill and couldn't be happier.

I did a search and read a lot of posts about this, but honestly, did not believe it until I noticed the decreased performance myself. I like the grill, and want to keep it to protect the radiator, but still want the same performance as before.
I did not really notice any performance loss, but have you considered the grill inserts. You might regain the airflow lost by cutting out the air vents and I think it looks pretty cool to have all three openings to be consistent.
Just a thought...

May sound silly, but do you have the grill on correctly? There are two sides of the grill. One side should be nice and smooth (the outside) and the other side wll be a bit rough. Use the smooth side as the outside facing grill and all should be fine.
I've had my grill for over a year and never had any issues.
