I have a major problem with MY '04....I cannot keep the rpms under 6K
No seriously, I got 20K miles on my 04 and not a single issue...and I drive it hard everyday thru the canyons....this is one solid car. Engine oil change every 7500miles and all other oils once a year.

you can file down the bur that causes the soft top problem on the 04's.
timing chain tensioner is the only issue I have seen besides the soft top wear. it is a $100 dollar part and takes 10 minutes to replace, not a big deal.

It amazing how low maintenance the S2000 is, especially if you are comparing to its competitors.

My 06 (27,000) has had no problems at all. It's a summer only car but gets driven airly hard for 7-8 months of the year including track days.

I have only done maintenance items like oil, filters, and fluid changes. And new rear tires Also have the problem of not keeping it under 6K often enough

Another 3-year-old '05 with 47k miles, bought new. Daily driver that's always parked outside in the California sun, I too had a ripped top at the "L" bracket a couple months ago. An easy self-fix with a patch from inside the cabin. I also had the lights for some of my dash contols (HVAC and auido) go out, but I always drive with the lights on (except when tracking!). Zero other problems, I'm getting about 24mpg in mixed driving with no oil burn. I think the engine's getting pretty close to broken in right now...
