I read a few posts back about a member not being to happy with the Comptech CAI. I on the other hand think that he either got a bad batch or it was installed incorrectly. My Comptech CAI had no fitment problems what so ever and needed nothing to make it fit right. It took 30 mins to install and there was no weird sound over the 5000rpm level that I noticed. I noticed about the same power increase as the AEM CAI. As far as sound, its about the same as the AEM over 6000rpms. It also fit perfectly with the Comptech STB. I also have a Carbon Fiber hood. This may or may not have anything to do with it.
To be honest the only thing I didn't like or is kind of annoying is the fact that the CF section of the CAI fit perfectly but when you put the hood support bar down it kind of has to be put in perfect. No big deal. I can live with that. Other than that its fine. I too am very picky about aftermarket parts on my car due to the fact its a car show car and 2 shops here sponsor it for the car shows and it has to be flawless. Anyway if you guys have any more questions shoot them my way. Have a good one.

Pics would be greatly appreciated!

I thought Mike B said that he was gonna post the dyno plots? I can't find them on the Comptech site...do you know where it is?

You say the sound is the same at 6000 rpm and above? really? i thought this one would be more quiet than the aem and the injen. oh well, back to the drawing board. glad you enjoy it though, atleast you know your not gonna get water in your intake again.

Yes indeed. In fact last night it rained pretty hard. It was the first true test. I had no problems. Anyway it looks really nice inside the engine bay plus there is not that big opening space that I had with the AEM. Looks much better and at low end feels the same as the AEM.

so how much would you say 5-10hp? did you honestly felt anything in the butt meter the reason i ask is because just a few hundered dollars more you can get a good NOS setup.

I used to deal with R&D on 2 stroke exhaust systems. The main reason I was slow to purchase an Injen or AEM was the fact that it was a constant size pipe all the way from the filter to the manifold. I know that an elongated football shape would make for a more efficiant intake design. I actually talked with a few people about trying to design one. I see that Comptech has a sort of bulge in the middle of it. I'm guessing that the bulge is for frequency resonance. AEM and Injen had a spike in the powerband around 3500 rpms I believe. Just going by looks the Comptech should have a spike in the powerband closer to 6000 to 7000 rpms I think. Is this true? Can you feel any difference around those RPMs? It might even just feel like your VTEC is hitting a little harder. I already ordered a Comptech CAI and I'm just wondering what to expect.

It does feel like the Vtec hits a little harder but it was about the same as the AEM CAI.
I noticed (and I am no expert by any means) maybe a 5-6 hp gain, if that. It looks really nice.LOL
On the other had I would never purchase Nitrous Oxide for my car. I am not into that type of power gain unless I had a big Chevy V8. LOL
