I'm considering installing the Computech supercharger but I do have some concerns.
1. Weight of the unit. Will I adversly affect the wight bias of the car by adding weight to the nose?
2. Will the boost pressure and the 11-1 compression ratio leave me with long term engine failure or even pre-mature engine failure?
3. How well will the balance of the belt drive system handle 9000 RPM?

I don't do a lot of high RPM driving on the street or hard launches from traffic lights but I do like the power. I know we have a lot of technical experts on this board and I do respect your opinions. Thanks

I,too, am considering the comptech supercharger.
Will there be warranties for the s/c and the motor? and from who, Honda or comptech or maybe both?

Don't count on any warranty from Honda. I think the only warranty from Comptech will be on the supercharger itself.

I received confirmation from Comptech that engine failure as a direct cause of their SC would be covered for a period of 2 years as the Honda warranty would not cover this. I would really thoroughly investigate this option to see what is really gained by the SC and is 5K worth it. If you're only talking marginal performance improvement at the risk of damaging your engine or other components is it worth it? Or can you add on comparable performance enhancements which are safe, do not jeopardize the warranty and cost less. Your call. [QUOTE]Originally posted by lvs2k:

The kit will only add about 26 lbs to the car, so weight distribution will have negligible change.

The stock drive belt remains unchanged. Our kit has a drive pulley bolted to the stock crank pulley, so everything driven by the stock belt remains unchanged.

As for engine damage from the supercharger, we haven't been able to break the engine in our car yet and it's been run very hard in testing. We've worked very hard on boost control and fuel management for this kit to make sure there are no problems. The kit will produce just under 6 lb. of boost. This is why our warranty will cover the engine, because we are confidant in the fact that nothing in the engine is overstressed by the blower.

Hello Mike!

I was very pleased to see your most recent post about the Comptech supercharger, and delighted to see that you all are warrantying the engine with this spectacular upgrade. Since there are so many interested owners on this site, do you think you could post the terms of Comptech's warranty, advise us as to availablity, let us know whether you have received CARB certification yet, and let us know whether Comptech has shipped any of the units yet?

Really looking forward to hearing from you about these details!!

Our written warranty policy does not specifically address the engine aspect of our warranty, but it has always been our policy if such a situation ever came up. So far we've had zero engine failures with the NSX supercharger kits. While our written warranty also says that we don't cover labor charges, there have been times that we have when it was appropriate. So far we haven't been able to break the engine in our car, and we've been giving it a real hard workout on the dyno for over a year.

We were hoping to ship the first kits this week, but it looks like it may be delayed a little. Hopefully no more than a week or two.

The kit is not CARB certified yet. The whole process takes about 5-6 months, and we just started it a couple weeks ago.

All of the writing about the Comptech Supercharger is interesting. I personally have a comptech supercharger on my NSX and have already ordered one for my S2000. If anyone is interested I plan to dyno my car before and after the mod. If all goes well on the Comptech end it should be installed next week. If anyone wants to private email me I'll be happy to discuss details about the NSX or the S2000 once it is done. If the S2000 supercharger works half as well as the NSX it's worth its price.

Jim,

Please post the dyno results after you get the S/C installed, and your general impressions of the kit, and performance figures if you have them. I don't think there's ANYONE on this forum that wouldn't want to hear about it.
