Default Considering an '02 S2. What is a fair price?

Hi. I've been admiring the S2000 for years now and finally ready to step up to one. Was considering a brand new one but found a pre-owned '02 with 13,500 miles and they're asking for $26,200. It's silver which I like and looks in good condition. Engine bay is very clean and so is undercarriage. Dealer said previous owner was a doctor that used it occasionally on weekends. So I'm thinking that it never seen snow or much bad weather. That price seems a bit high after reading what others here are paying for their. How much do you think I should offer? I'm in St. Louis area. Any advice will be greatly appreciated. I know they're great cars but I don't want to over pay if I can help it. Thank you very much.

P.S. A honda dealer here has a new '03 marked down to $29,900. Has less then 100 miles on it. Would this be a better buy?

not a TERRIBLE price, however it isn't good either. I paid $21500 for my 2001 w/ 8k miles 3 weeks ago... but then again, it is a 2001. I'd say you're good for $23800. There is a dealer in my area with a 2003 Suzuka Blue w/ 14,500 miles... I could've bought it for $24000

$22-24K is reasonable for a low-mileage, one-owner, mint condition 02'. Don't pay more than $24K, and most likely, you could get it for less.

The 03' would be nice, but not at that price. If they were willing to sell for $27-28K, then it would be a good deal, and your best bet!

Thanks for the advices. This forum is great. I read deeper into the old threads and getting a better idea what I should be paying. Something I should have done before starting a new thread. You guys are probably tired of answering the same questions but I really appreciate the chance to ask.

I may go with the new '03 if I can get them down to around $27,500. It's white which I like (silverstone or sebring silver would be the first two choices) but that tan interior might take some time to get used to. I would have preferred an all black interior even though tan would be cooler in the sun. Thanks.
