I had an s2k about 2-3years ago , i sold it and moved to a bigger car 745 bmw , and then i couldnt resist in buying a c6. I have an 05 c6 coupe 6spd. The car is way more comfortable then the s2k , tons more tq. but there was just something about the s2k that i liked more. That f1 car feeling every time you sit in it , way more reliable then my vette , even though i havn't had any problems with it and cheaper to maintain. The vettes go through tires quickly and good ones are almost $1500. You also cant beat the handling of the s2k. It just feels so much more precise and nimble in every day driving and thats what i use the car for mostly. I cant use all the power i have on the streets in this car and i have done some work to it to bring the hp up. When you hit the gas on the c6 to have some fun , you literally watch the fuel gage just drop. For me its a hard choice to give it up , if you pm me i can try and give you more advice or answer any questions , id maybe trade and work out a deal with you on your s2k for my car . - goodluck

If you are looking at a C6 for performace it's got it over most. Both handling and acceleration, top speed etc.

They are not as fun to drive on twisty back roads, all that torque means you dont really need to shift; the wide chassis and heavy slow steering takes the enjoyment out of it for me.

On the track, $ 400 sets of brake pads didnt last 2 days. I cracked the OEM rotors after 4 days. Going 150MPH will do that to pads. I had to retro fit a Z06 oil cooler as I was getting close to 300 degree oil temps, the cooler brought the temps down ~ 25 degrees. The track limits of the car are tremendous and way above my skill level.

My Vette was involved in a accident (100% my fault) it was repaired to as new condition, but didnt feel 100% confident with the car and sold it.

That said I bought a 08 S2000 and built a Spec Miata track car. I have a fun to drive car for the back roads and a really fun (albeit quite slower) track car.

If they could put a Vette like motor in a S2000 type chassis, that would be idea, oh wait they have its called a Ferrari F430 (which I have driven)

I never realized how many people went from a C6 back to an S2000,I thought I was the only one on the board.I have to agree that for me on these narrow country back roads the s2k is way more fun than my C6.I could leave my C6 in 3rd gear the whole time plus it did feel much bigger(wider) and the slower steering did kill the thrill quite a bit.I still would choose the vette for a daily commuter if I needed one but since my work is 100' from my house I guess I can walk.

i agree with just theres something about the s2k, theres a 997 carrera s in the garage and although more powerful/torquey/balling i still love to drive the s2k

To the OP, one other thing to consider:

A few of the members have purchased F3 cars, Locost 7's, Formula Fords, etc and use those for speed/track fun. The Locosts can be road legal, and while the Formula cars can't, some can pull 3g in turns. These types of cars can sometimes be had as cheap as ~$10k, though prices rise quickly from there.

In 10-15 years, I may get a GT car for a DD and then "upgrade" the (I assume) no longer reliable S2000 to something like that for weekend thrills. I started a thread about it a while ago just wondering what's on the market, initially asking about more expensive options. The focus ended up on racecars/racing. You may want to look through the thread:
https://www.s2ki.com/forums/index.ph...ic=566200&st=0

And of course, a superbike is another route for cheap speed, but safety and daily-driveability are compromised.

Thanks for all the responses. I think I'll be putting the S up for sale. I just miss power/torque/legroom. I can swing the Vette payment on top of my mortgage. I figure now, at 25 is the time to buy whatever I want before I have kids and different priorites. I'll probably end up doing heads/cam/I/H/E at 450rwhp (zo6 acceleration) and call it a day.
