Default convertible top, wear/tear

just picked up a 2003 ap1 in new formula red.

i had a few ?'s as far as whats to be expected regarding wear/tear of the convertible top. i currently have 43k on the odometer.

yesterday i was noticing that the top doesn't seal tight on the rear window on the outside.

basically it looks like somebody may have tried to rip into the top going through the rear window. there aren't any leaks cuz its been raining all day/night. is this sorta thing normal? i'm just wondering where the hell the water is going if its getting inside the top somehow? possibly the ticking time bomb described in another thread?

i'm a newb to convertibles. i'll post up some pics later. i'm sure that'll help you guys actually give me some help lol.

hey thats what i see there on the back window...there's a strip of velcro on each side of the window between the top fabric and the window. it looks like the side of the velcro that was attached to the window has fallen off or worn off. there are only velcro strips attached to the inside of the top fabric.

does this even make any sense to ya'll? lol

looks like i need to get some new velcro stips i guess. pics to come.

I have about 72K on my 02' and my top is ripped, torn and beat up in about 5-6 different places. All from wear and tear. It's been like that since 45K. Plan on replacing next winter.

i'm gonna post pics. i haven't found anything else about this in any of the other threads i've found. obviously its from the normal wear/tear but my main question now is how can i "fix it" even if its a ghetto home depot/duct tape/velcro solution lol. pics to come this afternoon.

again there are no leaks but, i don't want it to possibly lead to a leak if i can prevent it somehow...

velcro, loose on sides and top of window . . . hard to say without pics, but sounds normal. I suggest you roll by a Honda dealer and check out any S on the lot. Likely you will find the same setup.
