Cooler weather performance is amazing!
First, I'm just happy my car survived Katrina... I know a lot of other New Orleans S's were not that lucky.
... but the weather has started to turn cooler now, and tonight I took the car out and actually moved the climate control off full cold, for the first time in 3 months of ownership.
The car has never felt like it had more power - it was revving like a bad mo fo. I took my friend who has a wicked FD for a ride, and even he was impressed. I swear it even sounded better - smoother.
The car was fun heat soaked, but I'm in love all over again ...

Yes the S loves cooler/cold temps! Wish I could say the same for the tires...be more carful as the temps go down. It, to me, goes a lot faster and actually feels like it had some mods done to it when it gets <40 or 50 degrees or lower, but it also has much less traction especially w/ so2's on it. Though your car iz an 05 so you may have less too worry about.
Yes, I am running the Potenza REo50s, but your point is well taken - on the ramp to the expressway, after about 10 mins of regular driving, I shifted into second smoothly and starting climbing revs to about 5000, then I mashed the pedal down -- the car accelerated very fast, but the end twitched to the side for a second.
Thats the first time such unstability has ever happened (in a relatively straight line).

Colder air = denser air. Thus, more power. The problem with the tires is they are summer performance tires (both the RE050 and S02) and need to be heated up for traction. With it being cold out, they take longer to heat up and lose that heat faster; it has nothing to do with the tread unless there is water/snow on the ground.
Driving around when it's 50 outside is nice; top down, a jacket and a beanie and the heat blowing on your legs. It's great.
