I think that the '1' in the 10th position designates a MY2001 car. I think all ofthe 2000 cars have a 'Y' in that position. This just from a quick observation a few US 2000 VINs, so don't quote me. Just guessing.

I think you are correct. All the 2000 model years have a Y in that position. I think the 44 in the 8-9 position is the color code. 46 should be red. 49, I think may be silver with red interior. Any confirmation?

color isnt in the vin.
